Updates to mechanical simulations include hygroscopic swelling and nonlinear materials for membranes. If a simulation has an infinite domain, such as for propagation of acoustic, RF, microwave, optical, and elastic waves, you are now able to visualize fields outside of the computational mesh. COMSOL Server, used for managing and distributing apps, allows users to run apps on multiple computers, thus distributing heavy workloads with ease.Īdditionally, this software version introduces a useful Part Library for quick geometry set-up of some common parts. The Application Builder further offers enhanced efficiency through better file handling, searches for strings and keywords, table sorting, and more. Anyone with a COMSOL Multiphysics 5.1 license can open and inspect tutorials and demo apps, even without the add-on products required for specific models.
You can now also configure your apps to send simulation reports by email when the results are ready. In COMSOL Multiphysics version 5.1, the Model Builder and Application Builder are more closely integrated, making it easier to turn your models into apps. In this archived webinar, we introduce you to the software and share highlights from the release of version 5.1.
Solution 1078.COMSOL Multiphysics version 5.1 improves your simulation experience with 20 new demo apps and many new features and functionality enhancements across the product suite. (Could not obtain license for COMSOL Multiphysics GUI). For instruction on how the boot scripts should be set up, please see the COMSOL Multiphysics Installation and Operations Guide.
For information on how to fix this issue, please see solution 1199įinally, modify the boot script that starts the COMSOL License Manager automatically at boot. lmgrd: Command not found., the license server is missing required libraries for LSB (Linux Standard Base). Note: If running the lmgrd command returns the error message. Start the COMSOL 6.0 License Manager with the lmgrd command: Stop the 5.6 license manager with the lmdown command: Stop the COMSOL license manager: Make the comsol60/multiphysics/license/$arch directory the current directory, where $arch is either glnxa64 (64-bit Linux), glnxarm64 (ARM Linux), maci64 (64-bit macOS), or macarm64 (ARM macOS). Alternatively, download the license manager binaries using the links at the bottom of this page.
Please see the section License Manager Installation on Linux or License Manager Installation on Mac OS X in the COMSOL Multiphysics Installation Guide for instructions.
Install the COMSOL 6.0 License Manager components on the license server, available from the COMSOL 6.0 installation media.Updating the COMSOL License Manager software on Linux and Macintosh The license server does not need to be restarted. Choose Exit from the File menu to close LMTOOLS.Go to the Start/Stop/Reread page and click the Start Server button. The current recommendation is to store the debug log file, comsol60.log in the directory C:\ProgramData\COMSOL. Starting with the version of the Flexnet distributed with COMSOL Multiphysics 5.4, the permissions where the license manager is allowed to write has been changed. Change the paths to lmgrd.exe, and license.dat so that they all point to the COMSOL 6.0 installation directory. Go to the Start/Stop/Reread page and click the Stop Server button. On the Service/License File tab, select the COMSOL License Manager.Start the LMTOOLS license tool from the Start menu>All Programs>COMSOL Multiphysics 6.0>COMSOL Launchers>LMTOOLS.Alternatively, download the license manager binaries using the link at the bottom of this page. Please see the section License Manager Installation on Windows in the COMSOL Multiphysics Installation Guide for instructions. Install the COMSOL 6.0 License Manager on the license server.
We will use the LMTOOLS license utility program to upgrade the license manager service to COMSOL version 6.0. The COMSOL License Manager is installed as a Windows service. Updating the COMSOL License Manager software on Windows To avoid this you can ask users to save their work before transitioning to the new license manager. Please note that while updating the license manager, users may lose contact to it. This means that existing installations of COMSOL 5.6 and earlier will continue to function as normal after the license manager has been updated to version 6.0. Note: the COMSOL 6.0 license manager binaries and license files are backward compatible with COMSOL installations back to version 3.5a. Step-by-step instructions can be found below.
The solution is to update the on-site COMSOL License Manager software from COMSOL version 5.6 to version 6.0.
